FUCARE announced the new generation FC-BRV-21 high-performance blast damper, has had its case be rated by IP68 at SGS, in terms of the Water & Dust proof performance according to standard IEC 60529:1989+A1:1999+A2:2013. It becomes the first IP68 rated blast damper in the world and this extra feature would bring enhanced safety to applications where perfect air isolation between inside and outside of air ducts that blast dampers are installed to, is critical. It could provide top-level protection and great aerodynamic performance at the same time thanks to its innovative Shaft-linkage-free design.

[ About IP Rating ]
The IP Code, or Ingress Protection code, IEC standard 60529, sometimes interpreted as International Protection marking, classifies and rates the degree of protection provided by mechanical casings and electrical enclosures against intrusion, dust, accidental contact, and water. It is published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The equivalent European standard is EN 60529.
The standard aims to provide users more detailed information than vague marketing terms such as waterproof.
First digit: Solid particle protection
The first digit indicates the level of protection that the enclosure provides against access to hazardous parts (e.g., electrical conductors, moving parts) and the ingress of solid foreign objects.
IP6X means the highest protection level.
Second digit: Liquid ingress protection
The second digit indicates the level of protection that the enclosure provides against harmful ingress of water. The ratings for water ingress are not cumulative beyond IPX6. A device that is compliant with IPX7, covering immersion in water, need not be compliant with IPX5 or IPX6, covering exposure to water jets. A device that meets both tests is indicated by listing both tests separated by a slash, e.g. IPX5/IPX7.
What is IPX8 waterproof mean?
IPX8 is based on testing conditions where the device is submerged in freshwater by depth of 1.2 m for 30 minutes.
